UK Proptechs Launch End-to-End Digital Home Buying Platform Backed by Barclays
The Negotiator · Nigel Lewis · 14 July 2026

TL;DR
UK-based proptech firms Offr and PropertyStream have launched Transact, a white-labelled platform that allows estate agents to manage the entire property transaction — from first enquiry through to completion — within their own branded website. Backed by Barclays, the platform enables lead capture, buyer qualification, offer management, automated communications, and secure online dashboards for buyers, sellers, landlords, and tenants. It also supports tenancy management, new homes sales, and auction processes. The launch responds to the UK Government's push to digitise home buying, citing a 170-day average completion time and a one-third transaction fall-through rate as key problems the reforms aim to address.
Our take
This is a UK development, but it carries a clear signal for South African property professionals watching where the industry is heading globally. The core problem Transact addresses — fragmented, offline transaction management, slow completions, and high fall-through rates — will resonate with any South African agent juggling WhatsApp threads, email chains, and manual FICA compliance across a single sale. South Africa's property transaction process faces similar friction points. Agents, conveyancers, and bond originators still operate largely in silos, and buyers routinely wait months for transfer to register. Platforms like ooba, BetterBond, and Lightstone have digitised pieces of the puzzle, but a truly integrated, agent-branded transaction hub does not yet exist locally at scale. For SA proptech builders and agency principals, the Transact model is worth studying. The white-label approach — keeping the agent's brand front and centre — is smart; it addresses agent resistance to being disintermediated by tech platforms. Locally, any equivalent would also need to bake in POPIA-compliant identity verification, EAAB mandate management, and integration with deeds office workflows to be genuinely useful. Agents and landlords should watch this space.
